Estevan (Steve),

Enjoyed reading your report on our recent visit. You omitted the account of the frenchman(?) arriving to visit one of the French Canadian cruisers anchored at Bahia Luperon, who having to wait in the Puerto Blanco Marina bar and apparently spending the time sopping up good Dominican rum, proceeded to keep falling out of his hosts' dinghy while being transported from the marina to the vessel. But perhaps if everyone knew how much fun we had the Dominican Republic would become overcrowded with tourists seeking great adventure.

Upon our return Char discovered she still had 510 pesos. Bank of America locally would not exchange them, and she ended up going to a local money broker who exchanged the pesos for $23.00US, less a $5.00US service fee, or as you know a net of about 60 cents on the dollar.

Upon our return, we found that Jana had made arrangements to visit a friend in Colorado this month, depleting her travel budget, and will not be able to visit in Puerto Rico.

It may be good that you are out of the US now in view of the recent unsettling terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center and the Capital. It is depressing to consider that we were just looking at the twin towers six days before the attack from the Newark NJ airport across the river.

Char and I had a great time visiting you and again express our heartfelt thanks. Our (my?) one big disappointment was that you waited until after we left to visit the topless beach at Sosua.

Love, Miguel y Carlina
